I'm worried about Newcastle United....
This is a true story. No bullshit.

Bloke I know is an accountant for PL club. He does the Financial Fair Play (FFP) submissions.

Newcaslte can run up £300m - £300m losses in three years amid a huge transfer spend, he tells me.

I asked about FFP - but he said this doesn't kick in significantly until a club gets into the top four.

This is even BEFORE a huge dodgy commercial deal, which concerns him the most, although he had some confidence the authorities would scrutinise any deals closely.....

Newcaslte will probably overtake us in the next few years ... unless the Czech Sphinx unleashes his wallet.

That makes it harder for us to get into Europe etc.

How do you feel about this Newcaslte situation - unfair, not give a shit, or that's just 'the way it is'?

Everton spent a shed load of money and look at the good it did them.

Newcastle won't get anywhere near the top 4.

I couldn't give a flying fuck, have enough worries in life without stressing out over what Newcastle may spend..

Does £300m - £300m mean the same as exactly £300m ?

Re: I'm worried about Newcastle United....
Worried?

They'll outspend most other clubs on transfers and wages, they'll operate outside the rules like most big clubs in the world (or have meaningless sanctions against them) and ultimately they'll outperform those with less to spend.

That's how it works.

Stop worrying. Enjoy your bread and circuses.

Re: I'm worried about Newcastle United....
The only team who need to worry about this Man utd. We will never be at the top table unless Kretinsky wants to write cheques for 150 million per season.
If Ten Hag doesn't get this right they can kiss goodbye to the top4 for the next 10 years. They used to be a financial powerhouse but no champions league for a few seasons in a row and adding the dominance of City and Liverpool into the mix Man utd are yesterdays news. I think the landscape of English football is drastically changing and I can't see Man utd ( the biggest football club in the world according to some) being at the top table for much longer. Hoping Newcastle fuck it all up and they aren't as rich as they claim or failing that Saudi Arabia decide a country shouldn't remain on the map and decide to go down Putins route and the Saudis are fucked off out of it.

Everyone said Villa would surprise people this season, the only surprise is how shit they were for the money they spent.

Re: I'm worried about Newcastle United....
Like it or not Newcastle are going to do what Man City have done. Will take a couple of years but it's going to happen whether we like it or not. Only horrible mismanagement like Man Utd have been suffering can hold them back.

Newcastle, Man City, Man Utd, Liverpool and Chelsea operate in a totally different sphere to us so to worry about them is pointless. We're to all intents and purposes playing a different game.

Spurs and Arsenal are further down the road of a conventional rich owner, big stadium and more traditional rich owner football model. They're bigger than us financially, but not beyond us if Kretinsky does raise us up.

My bigger 'worries' are actually Villa, Everton.and Leicester. They're clubs much more akin to us financially, and whether we continue to outperform them will depend on the current and future owners willingness to succeed.

Do we go the way of Spurs...or Southampton?

No.

£300m - £300m = £0m

Ha ha. Jihaddy shore make citeh look like paupers. Quite simply it's when, not if they win the league. Repeatedly. We've got fuck all chance of hanging onto their coat tails.

Simply put it's going to make it even harder for us to compete for Europe.

We are a middling club punching above our weight. They have every chance of being above us next season.

Premier League sold out to the foreign Big money teams.

Saudis should never have been allowed to buy into the Prem.

Recent rumors that Boris Johnson and mates strongly lobbied the PL to approve the Saudi deal… while publicly distancing himself and UK Govt from the deal..

Saudis bought their way in…sickening given their human rights issues.

As usual money gets it done…just likeThe World Cup in the sand in December…

FIFA try to justify their decision as spreading the WC to new territories…that’s a joke…

They only wanted to spread more money around themselves…

Re: I'm worried about Newcastle United....
Never hear the media call the "big clubs" using the proper term which for all but maybe Spurs is "rich clubs". I suppose that would make too obvious just how unfair the whole Premiership league is. The "rich 5" have won 9 or 10 of the last 11 FA Cups and aside from the Leicester miracle ( in league and cup ) have mopped up the title for the last 10 years. The league cup pretty much the same and any european success is the same 3 or 4 clubs.

Suppose the odd victory by the "also rans" keeps the interest up but I'm not sure professional football has much left to categorise it as a sport?

Even in Div 2 this year, Forest Green a village team with 2000 fans max won the league after several years of outspending everyone courtesy of the bloke that owns Ecotricity.

Until attendances or interest wanes nothing will change. For West Ham a cup win of any sort would be enough for most of us now especially us old gits who have not seen any such success for 40 odd years and wont be around too much longer :-)

They’ll get there eventually, but it’ll take about 10 years before they’re an established force.

Hopefully by then, 1 or 2 of the big 6 will have fallen away.

Re: I'm worried about Newcastle United....
What I don’t get is why we weren’t bought out by the previous (Chelsea) or current owners (City or Newcastle). What made those clubs more attractive given we’ve got or had at the time of their takeovers a bigger fan base than all 3. We’re a London club, huge potential, massive catchment area etc, why don’t we ever get lucky with owners. We get some Icelandic spiv, the dildo brothers and a tight Czech

On a serious note, I agree. I read a report today that said Premiership clubs would be worth £10 billion in 10 years 🙄
Why, considering our location, fan base etc etc are we worth so little.
